Polynucleotides

After decades of research and use in the medical field, polynucleotides are an exciting innovation in aesthetics due to their regenerative capabilities, transforming your skin from a cellular level and offering long-term results.

These ‘biostimulators’ work on your skin cells, initiating your body’s natural fibroblast production, which triggers skin to regenerate and repair itself. This results in increased collagen and a thicker, healthier epidermis. Using filtered, ultra-purified and sterilised natural DNA fractions, these injectable serums deliver a raft of benefits, working as a wound healing agent (on scarring & imperfections) and then utilising their antioxidant properties to boost cell renewal, reduce inflammation and restore youthful volume and hydration.

TREATMENT INFORMATION

  • Your patient journey starts with a chat by phone – or email – to discuss your treatment objectives and the results you are looking to achieve.

We then arrange an in-depth consultation with Dr Paris in clinic, to assess your skin and decide the optimal treatment choices for you.

Virtual consultations are also possible, with the reassurance that we always then assess you in person before undertaking any treatment, to get a clear understanding of your unique skin and facial structure.

When creating your treatment plan, the goal is long-term, sustainable improvements for your skin and overall wellbeing, with continuous care throughout your time with us. The initial consultation helps us ascertain the best options for you, whether that's simply popping in for occasional medifacials or entrusting us with longer term facial rejuvenation.

You'll be able to ask any questions and, particularly if you are considering injectables for the first time, we'll make sure you are fully informed and comfortable with all the options. In short, you're in safe hands and we'll guide you through, led by how you're hoping to feel after treatment.

The range of aesthetic treatments can be overwhelming so we're here to advise you on the best path for you and there is never any pressure to book treatment.

[DON'T USE HERE? At Ardour, we take a 360-degree, personalised approach to help you look and feel your best. With decades of experience in medical aesthetics and state-of-the-art technology - including 3D skin analysis and medical-grade treatments - treatment is tailored to your specific needs, to ensure best possible results.]

  • Polynucleotides gained swifted traction in aesthetics, given their regenerative properties which transform your overall skin health, making them an effective treatment option for most skin issues and people.

By promoting cell turnover, triggering collagen production and reducing inflammation, they enable us to treat patients from their late teens upwards, tackling skin issues which were previously difficult to treat, such as acne scarring and rosacea.

They also produce transformative results for the eye area - another notoriously challenging skin concern - and now a superior alternative to tear trough filler. Some such areas of the body show signs of ageing quicker than others (due to factors like increased sun exposure, thickness of skin, etc) and polynucleotides also produce excellent results in rejuvenating these neglected areas e.g. the neck, décolletage, lips and hands.

Polynucleotides are indicated as a particularly efficacious treatment for:

    - Acne & acne scarring
    - Stretchmarks & other scarring
    - Melasma & pigmentation
    - Rosacea
    - Eczema
    - Hair loss & thinning hair

    - General skin health
    - Lines & wrinkles
    - Dull, dry or dehydrated skin
    - Sagging skin
    - Dark circles
    - Under eye bags
    - Thinning skin
    - Inflammation
    - Enlarged pores
    - Texture issues

In short, polynucleotides are suitable (and usually recommended) for anyone wishing to improve their general skin health, whether to rejuvenate it, treat a specific skin condition like acne or rosacea, or improve its overall quality in the longer term.

  • Polynucleotides - also known as PDRN - gained popularity in aesthetics due to their remarkable regenerative properties, accelerating tissue repair, triggering collagen synthesis and promoting cellular renewal and proliferation.

These natural DNA fractions are extracted from salmon or trout using a specialised process, then are distilled, sterilised and purified before being formulated into an injectable serum.

Injected into the skin / scalp, the biostimulators penetrate deeply to kick start the rejuvenation process at cellular level. There, polynucleotides stimulate dermal fibroblast activity, promoting the production of collagen and elastin and improving skin's structure and support by boosting extracellular matrix production. They also balance melanocyte activity which can reduce hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone.

The overall result is that polynucleotides initiate tissue repair, reduce inflammation and transform the strength, elasticity, hydration, clarity and quality of skin (and hair quantity and quality). Skin benefits from these results from 6 to 12 months due to the ongoing collagen production triggered by polynucleotides - in contrast to other treatments where this is shorter term

  • To reduce the risk of bruising, we advise you to avoid:

    • alcohol for 24 hours before

    • aspirin, ibuprofen & Omega-3 supplements for 2 days before

After treatment, we advise you to:

    • not apply makeup for 30 minutes

  • Numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area beforehand to reduce any discomfort.

If a cannula is used for treatment, you may experience some mild swelling and tenderness at the cannula site.

If a needle is used instead, some mini bumps and redness may occur in the treated area.

These are temporary and should subside shortly.

As with any injectable, there is a small chance that bruising and/or swelling may occur (typically within 48 hours from treatment). We normally use a cannula to minimise this risk.

  • Results from Polynucleotides are usually seen within a week and improve with each treatment, up to 12 weeks after treatment when benefits are optimal.

  • You will need 3 treatments, 1 month apart.

Results from Polynucleotides last for approximately 6 to 9 months. You may wish to book a maintenance treatment then to continue results, or a review to discuss your skin at that time.

frequently asked questions

  • A next-generation innovation in aesthetics, polynucleotides actually evolved from the field of regenerative medicine - protocols which seek to repair the body using its own healing capabilities, for example stem cell therapy for heart disease. After decades of success in wound healing and tissue repair in the medical field, polynucleotides are now offered as a regenerative treatment to significantly improve the health of skin and hair.

Polynucleotides are composed of filtered, ultra-purified and sterilised natural DNA fractions, extracted from salmon or trout, and are injected as a serum into skin. They act as ‘biostimulators’ in skin cells, triggering skin to regenerate and repair itself. As polynucleotides initiate the body’s natural fibroblast production, this stimulates ongoing collagen production, resulting in a thicker, healthier, clearer epidermis, and in hair regrowth.

  • Polynucleotides are a form of skin booster - the difference in these treatment types is in their composition and the results they produce for skin. Polynucleotides are composed of natural, highly-purified DNA fragments while most skin boosters are generally made from hyaluronic acid.

While both polynucleotides and skin boosters focus on improving skin quality, polynucleotides focus on long-term cellular regeneration and repair by stimulating ongoing collagen and elastin production. Skin boosters are used primarily for their ability to instantly and intensely hydrate skin and produce a short-term radiance.

  • Yes, Polynucleotides are suitable for all skin types.

  • We fully cleanse skin before any treatment so it is fine for you to wear makeup to the clinic.

We advise that you avoid applying makeup for at least 30 minutes after Polynucleotide treatment.

  • Polynucleotide treatments are not recommended when you are pregnant due to a lack of safety data and the potential risks associated with injectables during pregnancy.

If you are looking for a skin treatment during pregnancy, you might like to consider an Ardour Detoxygenate medifacial. [link]
